2027 enrolments open

Teneo Online School fees for 2027 run from R3,000 to R6,300 a month depending on grade and learning format, paid in 12 instalments with 5% off each child after the first. The one figure Teneo doesn’t set is the matric examination fee, charged by the IEB or SACAI — R16,000 for the IEB in 2026, covering seven subjects and the venue. The date that matters most in the matric year is 31 March: examination fees must reach Teneo by then for the learner to be registered in time to write.
Teneo Online School fees for 2027 run from R3,000 to R6,300 a month, depending on grade and learning format, paid in 12 instalments, with 5% off each child after the first. IEB Grade 12 learners also pay the IEB's examination fee: R16,000 in 2026.
If you're planning for 2027, you need more than a starting price. This guide sets out every Teneo Online School fee as currently published — by grade, by learning format and by year — along with the matric examination fees, the discounts, how payment works, what the fees don't include, and what a full year really costs. It also covers the dates that matter for families starting or continuing in 2027.
Teneo's school fees for 2027 are unchanged from 2026, at every grade and in every learning format. The one figure Teneo doesn't set is the matric examination fee, which is charged by the IEB or SACAI.
Teneo Online School teaches the national CAPS curriculum from Grade R to Grade 12. In Grades 10 to 12, learners write towards the National Senior Certificate through one of two Umalusi-accredited assessment bodies: the IEB or SACAI. Fees vary by grade, by learning format and, in Grades 10 to 12, by assessment body.
For the live calculator, see Teneo's online school fees.

Grade 12 at Teneo costs the monthly school fee plus the examination fee charged by the assessment body.
IEB Grade 12 examination fee: R16,000 in 2026. It covers seven subjects and the examination venue. The fee is set by the IEB, so confirm the 2027 amount when the IEB releases it. It covers seven subjects and the examination venue fee.
Grade 12 totals with the IEB in 2027, before discounts, using the 2026 IEB examination fee:
Live:
R75,600 in school fees + R16,000 = R91,600
Hybrid:
R60,000 + R16,000 = R76,000
Recorded:
R48,000 + R16,000 = R64,000
Who sets the exam fee? The assessment body, not Teneo. Teneo pays the fee directly to the IEB, and it's the same for every learner, whichever school they attend. When comparing schools, check whether a quoted price includes it.
Grades 10 and 11: the IEB charges no examination fee. SACAI charges a nominal fee for Grades 10 and 11, payable by the parent.
This is the single most important date in the matric year.
Under Teneo's fee policy, Grade 12 examination fees for the IEB or SACAI must be paid to Teneo by 31 March so that Teneo can register the learner with the assessment body in time.
If the fees aren't paid by the deadline, the learner won't be registered — and can't write the examinations that year.
Other points in the policy:
Exam fees are non-refundable. They can include examination, registration, subject, venue and certificate courier fees.
A further amount may be due later in the year, depending on final examination venue costs.
Examination concessions — such as extra time — carry additional concession and administration fees.
Final examinations are written in person. Where the assessment body asks Teneo to assign a venue, Teneo aims for one as close as reasonably possible to the learner's home in South Africa.
Transport and accommodation to the examination venue are paid by the family.
If your child starts in January 2027:
Fees are billed from 1 January 2027, payable in advance — school fees are billed from the 1st of the month, including January, regardless of the learner's start date in that month
The registration fee is paid with the first school fee
If your child is in the matric class of 2027:
Grade 12 examination fees must be paid to Teneo by 31 March 2027 so the learner can be registered with the IEB or SACAI. Miss it, and the learner can't write that year's examinations.
Budget for a possible top-up later in the year, depending on final examination venue costs
If you're thinking about changing learning format:
The window is the first term of 2027. Format changes are requested by form, before the monthly cut-off.
If you're enrolling more than one child:
The 5% sibling discount applies to the second and each later child enrolled at the same time
If you'd like to spread the cost:
Teneo's education term loan offers up to R500,000 at a discounted fixed rate, over up to 84 months
Confirm your figure in the fees calculator before you commit, especially for Grades 10 to 12, where fees depend on the assessment body.
Yes — 5% off school fees for the second child and every child after the first. The first child pays the full fee.
How it's calculated: discounts apply per learner, to the net fee. If more than one discount applies, each is calculated on the fee after the previous discount.
Example — three children in Grade 5, hybrid lessons (R3,800 a month each):
First child: R3,800
Second child: R3,610
Third child: R3,610
Total: R11,020 a month, a saving of R380 a month, or R4,560 a year
Example — two children in Grade 8, hybrid lessons (R4,100 a month each):
First child: R4,100
Second child: R3,895
Total: R7,995 a month
Teneo may also offer occasional promotional discounts for specific groups or periods.
Payment options:
Monthly — 12 instalments a year
Termly
Annually
Key rules from the fee policy:
Fees are payable in advance, before the 1st of the month for monthly or termly payments
Fees are billed from the 1st of the month, including January, regardless of the learner's start date in that month
A non-refundable registration fee is payable per learner, together with the first school fee payment
Joining mid-year: fees are pro-rated for the remainder of the year, so you pay only the months remaining
Late payments: if an instalment is missed, Teneo can suspend access to its learning platform and charge interest, a late payment fee, a reinstatement fee and, where applicable, collection costs.
Read the full fee policies.
Yes. Teneo families can apply for an education term loan of up to R500,000, at a discounted fixed interest rate, repayable over up to 84 months.
Before taking any loan, compare:
The total amount repayable, not just the monthly instalment
The interest rate and whether it's fixed
How the loan fits alongside monthly school fees
Teneo's fee policy states that school fees don't include:
Textbooks and stationery
Internet connectivity
Computer equipment
Backup electrical power
What you'll need, and what it typically costs:
Computer:
a Windows or Apple computer from 2021 or newer. A laptop is the practical choice, because its battery covers power cuts. If you need to buy one, budget roughly R8,000 to R10,000.
Connection:
at least 20 Mbps. Entry-level uncapped fibre packages, which comfortably exceed this, start at around R450 to R600 a month.
Backup power:
four hours. The laptop battery usually covers itself; a mini-UPS for the router, from around R600 to R1,200, keeps the Wi-Fi running for four to six hours.
Equipment and connection prices are typical South African retail ranges in 2026, not Teneo fees.
Textbooks: most subject content is on Teneo's learning platform, but some subjects need textbooks. Families receive textbook and stationery lists after enrolment.
Grade 5, recorded lessons
School fees: R36,000
Connection: about R5,400 to R7,200
Router backup: about R600 to R1,200, once
About R42,000 to R44,400 a year
, plus registration, textbooks and stationery
Grade 9, hybrid lessons
School fees: R51,000
Connection: about R5,400 to R7,200
Router backup: about R600 to R1,200, once
About R57,000 to R59,400 a year
, plus registration, textbooks and stationery
Grade 12, live lessons, IEB
School fees: R75,600
IEB examination fee: R16,000 (2026 figure)
Connection: about R5,400 to R7,200
Router backup: about R600 to R1,200, once
About R97,600 to R100,000 a year
, plus registration, textbooks and stationery
Add R8,000 to R10,000 once if you need to buy a computer.
Yes, during the first term of the school year. Parents can request a format change for the rest of the year by submitting the required form before the monthly cut-off date. Depending on the change, it takes effect in the same month or a later one, and the fee changes with it.
Choosing a format on cost alone is a risk. Recorded lessons cost least, but suit only learners who manage their own time well. The right format is the one your child will actually thrive in.
Enrolment is ended by submitting a Termination of Enrolment form.
Submitted before the monthly cut-off:
enrolment ends at the month end specified on the form
Submitted after the cut-off:
the earliest end date is the end of the following month
Fees are payable in full
until the termination takes effect
Usually, yes. South African private day schools commonly charge around R70,000 to R160,000 a year at mid-tier, before uniforms, transport and extramurals. Online school removes the uniform and the daily commute.
Than a public school, no. Public school fees range from nothing to roughly R18,000 a year, and former Model C schools from about R35,000 to R75,000. Online school is a private-school decision, made on fit as much as price.
A lower monthly fee isn't always a cheaper year. Compare like for like:
Teaching: teacher-led lessons, or materials only?
Assessment: set and marked by qualified teachers?
Exam fees: included in the quote, or extra?
Accreditation: registered with SACAI or the IEB, so learners write the National Senior Certificate? See
Support: can learners message teachers and get help when they fall behind?
The full year: registration, textbooks and equipment, not only tuition
