Teneo learners work toward the National Senior Certificate through recognised examination routes. Teneo Online School is registered with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB, 11489) and the South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute (SACAI, 99304). Umalusi accredits both boards and issues the certificate.

Teneo
Provides the academic programme, teaching and support appropriate to the learning option, and manages school-based assessment, marking and reporting.
IEB or SACAI
The chosen assessment body manages the external NSC assessment pathway and relevant examination requirements.
Umalusi
Provides national quality assurance and certification within South Africa’s general and further education system.
National Senior Certificate
Qualifying learners receive the recognised South African school-leaving qualification.

Umalusi publishes the assessment bodies it accredits at umalusi.org.za (opens in a new tab), so each board’s accreditation can be checked.
IEB or SACAI? Both can lead to the National Senior Certificate.
Both lead to the same National Senior Certificate. Teneo offers the IEB from Grade R (English only from Grade 10) and SACAI from Grade 10, in English or Afrikaans.
