How Grade 12 online school works
In Grade 12, Teneo’s online high school prepares your child for the National Senior Certificate with the IEB or SACAI, aiming for the results that open doors to tertiary study. On the IEB pathway, in English, your child can follow timetabled live lessons every weekday from 07:45 to 14:45 (eight 40-minute lessons a day), recorded lessons on a schedule or a mix of the two. On the SACAI pathway, in English or Afrikaans, lessons are recorded or a mix of live and recorded. Both pathways offer Teneo’s two homeschooling options, Without Classes and Without Classes and Reports, where you guide your child through every content module at home.
Grade 12 is the final year of the three-year National Senior Certificate programme, following CAPS. Teneo is registered with the IEB and SACAI, both accredited by Umalusi. Qualified teachers set, mark and moderate every assessment, with a promotion report each term. Since 2019, more than 4,000 Teneo learners have matriculated. In 2025, 90% of our matric passes qualified for tertiary study. Exam boards set strict cut-off dates for Grade 12 enrolment, so enrol early. Term 1 of 2027 starts on 11 January.

Grade 12 school fees and learning options for 2027
In 2027, Grade 12 fees start from R1,250 a month, depending on the pathway and learning option: 100% Live Classes (IEB only), Mix of Live and Recorded Classes, 100% Recorded Classes, Without Classes or Without Classes and Reports. A once-off registration fee is payable on enrolment and exam board fees are charged on top. On the class options, a 5% sibling discount applies to a second child and any further siblings.

Grade 10 subject choices affect which tertiary courses stay open later.
Engineering and many science programmes, for example, usually require Mathematics and Physical Sciences, while other courses set different subject and achievement requirements.
That’s why Teneo encourages families to weigh up a learner’s strengths, interests and likely direction when choosing subjects.
Grade 12 learners take seven subjects: four compulsory subjects and three electives. Which electives are on offer depends on the exam board and the language of teaching.
