Imagine a school where every learner – not just the top performers – has the tools to succeed. A school where hidden knowledge gaps are caught before they become obstacles, where every learner’s potential is nurtured year after year, and where strong matric results aren’t luck, they’re the natural outcome of a smarter system. This is Teneo School. And in 2025, that smarter approach translated into results that we couldn’t be more proud of.
Across both the South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute (SACAI) and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB), Teneo learners achieved outstanding results:
406 distinctions across SACAI and IEB, representing a 22% increase in the number of distinctions per matriculant compared to 2024.
Overall pass rate of 80% for all Teneo 2025 matriculants.
In the SACAI stream, Teneo learners achieved an 8% higher pass rate than the national average SACAI pass rate of 73%, as well as 8% more Bachelor Passes than the average of all institutions registered with SACAI.
In the IEB stream, learners achieved an 86% increase in distinctions per matriculant compared to 2024.
90% of Teneo’s matriculants qualified for tertiary studies.

It’s one thing to celebrate numbers. It’s another to understand what drives them. At Teneo, these results are the outcome of a system designed not for last-minute intervention, but for consistent, long-term growth.
Teneo's Smart School System™ tracks engagement and mastery, enabling gaps to be caught early and corrected quickly. The result? Learners don’t carry hidden knowledge gaps from one term to the next. And the benefits aren’t just for top performers – it lifts the entire learner base and strengthens readiness year after year until success in matric becomes the natural result of a stronger schooling system.
Data from a multi-year analysis shows that Teneo learners experience a 12% grade improvement in their first year, compounding to 25% by the fourth year. By the time they reach Grade 12, success in matric is the natural result of a stronger, smarter education.
The 2025 results show what this looks like in practice. In the SACAI stream, Teneo learners achieved an 8% higher pass rate than the national average SACAI pass rate of 73%. Teneo’s outperformance in Bachelor Passes was evident, with Teneo achieving 8% more Bachelor Passes than the average of all institutions registered with SACAI.
Two Teneo learners achieved the highest marks in South Africa for the following subjects:
Accounting: Josephine Kirsch
Afrikaans Home Language: Carinda van Staden

On the IEB side, learners achieved an 86% increase in distinctions per matriculant compared to 2024, underscoring a model built for consistent performance, not last-minute rescue.
8 of Teneo’s IEB matrics ranked in the top 1% nationally in their individual subjects, with 3 learners placing in the top 1% nationally for Computer Applications Technology (CAT).
Online schooling prepares learners for the world they’re stepping into, and our learners are proving that daily engagement with technology translates into real academic and future-ready success.

In total, 892 Teneo learners successfully completed their 2025 NSC matric exams, bringing our total number of Teneo graduates to date to over 4 000 matriculants.
These results reinforce Teneo’s focus on strong academic outcomes alongside flexibility and support, particularly in an education landscape where distance and online schooling are rapidly expanding. SACAI noted that 94% of its NSC candidates in 2025 were registered through distance education providers or online schools, highlighting how quickly alternative learning pathways have become mainstream.
SACAI emphasised that the release of results follows a comprehensive quality assurance process with Umalusi, including moderation of question papers, monitoring of writing centres, moderation of marking, moderation of SBA marks, verification of capturing, and formal approval of results. The IEB similarly confirmed that its 2025 NSC examinations were quality-assured by Umalusi and that no systemic irregularities were identified that could compromise the session's credibility.
We’re also incredibly proud to celebrate two of Teneo’s British International learners who have received the prestigious Outstanding Pearson Learner Award, a global recognition of exceptional academic achievement. These awards are drawn from results across over 740 schools and 85 countries:
Mia Elizabeth Meyer achieved the highest mark in South Africa in the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics examination.
Zachary Wagner achieved the highest mark in South Africa in the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE English Language A examination.

As Saul Geffen, CEO of Teneo School and founder of the Smart School System™, explains:
“What makes these results especially meaningful is that we don’t select for outcomes; we accept all learners of any ability as long as they have a report from their previous school. This cohort’s performance shows that when you combine inclusivity with smarter schooling, learners can thrive.”

The 2025 results aren’t just numbers on a page; they’re proof that a smarter, personalised, online approach to education works. For South African learners seeking flexibility, support, and the chance to excel, Teneo isn’t just an alternative – it’s a path to extraordinary results.
