DX Dance

DX DANCE is a curriculum-based dance school committed to structured, progressive dance education rooted in recognised national and international dance associations, including the Dance Teachers Association (DTA). Our dance education is delivered through a structured 8-class per term system. For Ballet, Modern, and Contemporary, training includes: Barre work – developing strength, alignment, and technique, Centre work – coordination, balance, and control, Dance – artistry, musicality, and expressive movement. For Tap and Hip Hop, training focuses on: Dance technique, structured routines, rhythm, timing and performance skills. Across all styles, students are introduced to dance theory and musical notation, reinforcing technical understanding, discipline, and artistry.

Who is the dance teacher? Michelle Wright is the Owner and Director of DX Dance (Pty) Ltd. She has been teaching dance professionally since 2002 and is a fully qualified instructor in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Acrobatics. Michelle currently serves as the Chairman of the Dance Teachers Association and is a qualified examiner in Ballet, Modern, Tap, and Contemporary Dance. Having danced since the age of five, she has dedicated her life to the art of dance and the development of young performers through the establishment of her dance school. She has been a South African Team Coach for multiple national and international dance competitions, with her dancers competing internationally since 2017.

As an accomplished choreographer, Michelle has received outstanding recognition, including:

• A score of 97.5% at the World Dance Movement International Competition (2021) for a solo performed by Meloney Branford

• First Place at Talent America (2020) in the 9–11 age category, choreographed for Meloney Branford

• Divisional Winning Performances at Talent America (2023–2024) for Tumisho Galane (6–8 age category) and Meloney Branford (12–14 age category)
